EAX has projections to build the commodity market in Burundi. At the moment traders from Burundi can sign up as members in Rwanda and have access to the Nasdaq OMX trading platform.
Market Development Activities
EAX has begun market development activities in Burundi, focusing on grain trade with a forcast of signing up different stakeholders to the exchange.
In 2014, EAX held a fruitful stakeholder's meeting in Bujumbura which was well attended by coffee and grains stakeholders from Bujumbura, Muramvya,kayanza and Ngozi.
In partnership with the East Africa Farmer Federation (EAFF), EAX plan to organize a seminar on EAX and EAFF products and services, how Burundi stakeholders could benefit and opportunities for synergies and linkages with the larger East Africa region.
