Kenya East Africa Exchange (KEAX) is the national-level subsidiary linked to the greater EAX. The Kenya chapter was established in August, 2014 following the official launch of EAX as a regional exchange by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta, during the 6th Northern Corridor Integration Projects Summit. Through the establishment of the commodity exchange and its supporting infrastructure, KEAX aims to promote the commercialization of the Kenyan agricultural sector and improve market access to smallholder farmers through better value chain management.

EAX Kenya certified warehouses

KEAX is in negotiation with Kenya government and Private sector warehouse owners to lease and operate its warehousing facilities. Currently, we are at advanced stages with National Cereals & Produce Board (NCPB) and private sector to operationalize warehouses in Eldoret and Loitoktok with a combined capacity of 8000 MT

Market Development Activities

Stakeholder engagement meeting in February 2014 at the Sarova Stanley, the event brought together grain traders and buyers, government officials and other agricultural and financial industry stakeholders. KEAX partners with ABC Bank Kenya in Warehouse Receipts Financing. The Bank will finance up to 80% of the market value of farmers grains deposited in EAX warehouses. Meeting with Chase Bank, KCB and Equity Banks to accept the EAX Electronic Warehouse Receipts as sole collateral for short term loans. Kenya Stakeholder Training on EAX NASDAQ Trading Platform. Export Trading Group (ETG), Unga Group Limited and PISU among others. Participation at the Nairobi International Trade Fair, 2015; KEAX exhibited and actively engaged the public in talks and demonstrations of our services at the recently concluded week long trade fair. The platform enabled us to create awareness and demystify our operations to the general public. We further envision continued participation in future trade fairs in line with our market outreach program.
